The nurses are responsible for a wide range of services within the practice including chronic disease management, new patient registrations, health promotion clinics, blood tests, cervical smears, childhood immunisations and injections required for travelling. They will always offer advice should you wish to discuss any problem with them and provide a valuable support service to our doctors. Our practice nurses also provide a chaperone service during examinations. Childhood immunisations are carried out at the surgery each Tuesday afternoon).
Our healthcare assistants run Warfarin clinics at Burbage and Wolvey surgeries. Patients taking warfarin will be invited to attend the surgery as required to have a blood test. Since May 2009 warfarin monitoring has been transferred from George Eliot Hospital to Burbage Surgery. Our healthcare assistants also provides phlebotomy and support to Dr Thomason in his ENT clinic.
Wendy will be pleased to answer any query you may have about the administration of the surgery or any other aspect of your health care. We are continually looking at ways of improving our service to our patients and welcome any suggestions patients may wish to make.
A phlebotomy service is available Monday to Friday mornings at Burbage and Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at Wolvey for patients requiring a blood test. We also have a community phlebotomist for patients who are unable to get to the surgery. Appointments for both may be made via the reception at the surgery.
Our receptionists are trained to do a difficult job well. Please remember that if you are kept waiting or seem to be asked one or two questions, they are carrying out surgery policy, which is aimed at making the practice run smoothly. They do have to judge the urgency of requests so please try to give the information they require. They should deal with all patients in a polite, respectful and courteous manner and we expect our patients to treat our staff in the same way. All staff are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the doctors and nurses. The Prafctice Manager would be happy to speak to any patient about the service offered by our reception team.
Carol is our Reception Manager and will be happy to deal with any enquiries relating to our Reception.
Abigail is based at Leicester Royal Infimary and works with our GP's to provide antenatal and postnatal care and advice to our pregnant ladies.
